He clicked on the proposal link; his browser opened and a highly animated homepage displayed on his screen. "Welcome Edwin--Thank you for taking the time to peruse our products. We are sure you will NOT be disappointed."
Below the heading, a short paragraph described how the company--Genetic Enhancement Technologies or (GET)--had chosen--for a limited time--to expand their product offer to certain outlying regions of the galactic spiral, and thus to include the inhabitants of Earth in their sales orbit.
"What hyperbole! This pitch is out of this world," Edwin laughed. He continued to read GET's offer aloud. "For a small fee, we provide the latest in targeted technology matched to your specific DNA. By default, the medication targets the genitals, although is easily reprogrammed to engineer any other specific body part. Our highly effective product consists of three nano-enhanced capsules--a green growth capsule, yellow shrink capsule and a red stasis capsule. Our product can be materialized at your galactic coordinates within twenty-four hours, and is fully automated. Payment is cash on delivery in galactic credits or equivalent gold. Limited first purchase offer, never to be repeated in your galactic sector--FIFTY percent off the normal price."
Edwin scratched his head in disbelief and checked the date on his watch to see if April Fool's Day had escaped him. It hadn't.
This has to be a practical joke, he mused as he stared at the monitor. "What the heck, I'm going to wipe the drive anyway so I'll go along with the joke," he muttered as he clicked the accept button.
The screen flashed. "Thank you for your business Edwin, your purchase will be dispatched shortly."
"Sure it will. How's it going to find me without my credit card details or postal information?" he chortled at the screen, as he wiped the hard-drive and re-installed from his system disks.
It was late when Edwin finished re-formatting his computer. His eyes ached, his head thumped, he was over-tired. He grabbed a couple of aspirin capsules from a packet on his coffee table, collapsed bleary-eyed on the adjacent couch and crashed fully clothed.
