eBook Description: Can a diffident dormouse and a rugged daredevil find lasting happiness? Widowed single-parent Sylvia Paget thinks not. Assistant to three wealthy, assertive bachelors should be a snap for a woman accustomed to life's challenges. Yet from her first day on the job--when she reports to work in her son's penguin costume--Sylvia's future at Sagorski Industries wobbles. Her intimidating new boss Mac Sagorski lacks that sense of whimsy so essential to any retiring mouse trying to pass herself off as an overdressed penguin. Nor is Sylvia a match for Mac's two elderly partners, who are bent on personal growth the hard way and attract more trouble than five ferrets in a box. Love isn't possible. Not between a danger-dealing giant with a swashbuckling gait and a small, shy creeper who stores soup and nutshells in her blouse. Or is it?

Pinioning her with his eyes, he reached for her again.
She held her breath. He lifted her off the desk with an ease that suggested she weighed less than a dainty butterfly. The effect dizzied. His hands settled around her waist. They felt good there, giving her hips voluptuous importance, inviting her to press closer.
She stood and spread her palms on his chest for balance. Solid power right beneath her fingertips stirred urges to trace the contours of his body.
"Are you all right?"
Aware that he had asked a question, she whispered, "Who?"
He leaned forward. His grip tightened. His head descended.
The approach of his mouth held her rapt. Flannel, cordite, healthy perspiration, a man's breath above her cheek amplified anticipation, sealing her into urgent intimacy.
Boot leather creaked as he shifted, and a long, solid thigh intruded between her legs. A large, callused palm claimed the small of her back and drew her more snugly against him.
One more second, another heartbeat, and she'd be spiraling helplessly into rapture. Straight toward disaster.
