"How are we going to manage this?" I said, waving up at the light above us. Earlier Logan had showed me the elevator from the sidewalk across the street. The people riding in it had been plainly visible. Half the city could see us up here if they tried. Logan looked at his watch. "Patience, love. Thirty seconds more." At the end of that time, the light abruptly went out. The shadow of the elevator roof enveloped us. I raised an eyebrow at Logan. "So ... are you going to tell me how you managed it?" He shrugged. "I bribed the maintenance chief. For the next fifteen minutes, the light will stay off and the elevator won't move." "Then let's not waste time," I said, and kissed him.
