What is the Fictionwise Wish List?
The Fictionwise Wish List allows you to store a list of eBooks that you are
considering for purchase at a future date. The Wish List includes a powerful
search tool along with features that allow you to set a Personal Priority on
each eBook, and set an "Alert Price" to tell you when items on your
Wish List have been reduced in price. Items may be moved back and forth between
your Shopping Cart and Wish List with the click of a button. Top
How do I add items to my Wish List? You can move any item in your Shopping Cart to your Wish List by clicking
the Move to Wish List icon to the right of the item in your Cart.
You may also move eBooks to your Wish List on any search, browse, or eBook
description page by clicking the Add to Wish List link that appears
near the Add to Cart link. Top
How do I view my Wish List items?
Easy! Simply click the Wish List icon in the upper right corner
of nearly every page on the Fictionwise web site. Top
I have many items in my Wish List. How can I find specific items? The Fictionwise Wish List has several features to help you find items:
- You can sort the contents of your Wish List by using the Sort By menu. You
can sort alphabetically by Title, Author, or Category. You can sort by date
added to Wish List, by date released at Fictionwise, or by publication date.
You can also sort by price, by your Priority (see below for more information
on Priority), or by how far the eBook is below your Alert Price (see below
for more information on Alert Price). You can reverse the order of any of the
above sort criteria by checking the reverse box next to the Sort By menu.
- You can directly search for items using the Search area. You
can search by Title, Author, or Keyword using the menu next to the Search
prompt.
Wish List contents are displayed with 50 titles per page. You can page
forward or backward or jump to any particular item by selecting the page
number directly.
Links for paging are above the Wish List to the right. Top
How do I buy items on my Wish List?To purchase items on your Wish List, you just move them to your Cart, then
checkout as usual. There are two ways to move items from your Wish List to
your Shopping Cart:
- You may click the Move to Cart icon next to any single title in
the Wish List table.
- You may move multiple items to your Cart with a single click by checking
off the Buy check boxes next to any number of items that show on a
single Wish List
page, then clicking the Update button at the bottom of the Wish List
page. Top
What is the Priority column in the Wish List? The Priority column allows you to indicate your personal Priority for purchasing
each item. The default Priority is "3: Would like to Have" but there
are five different Priority settings you can choose.
The Priority is useful for sorting purposes. By setting Priorities then choosing "Sort
By Priority" in the sorting area, you can see your highest priority items
at a glance.
To change a Priority, simply use the Priority menu next to any items you see
on a single Wish List page, then click on UPDATE at the bottom of the page.
NOTE: You must click the Update button to save your Priorities before
going to a new Wish List page if you have multiple pages. Top
What is the Alert Price column in the Wish List and how do I use it?
This feature allows you to be alerted via email when eBooks on your Wish List
have fallen to a particular price that you set.
Publishers will often set the price of an eBook higher when the print version
is only available in hard cover. They will often then drop the eBook price
when the print version comes out in paperback. There can be other reasons for
prices of an eBook to drop, such as publisher specials, sales at Fictionwise,
etc.
This feature allows you to set a price for any eBook in your Wish List, and
our system checks once per week (usually on Mondays) to see if the price of
the eBook has dropped below your alert price. If any have, you receive an email
informing you which eBooks on your Wish List have dropped to your alert price.
This email is combined with any other Alerts you have set at Fictionwise so
you do not receive too many emails.
For this feature to work, you must have a valid email address set in your
member profile. To review your email address settings, click here.
To choose an Alert Price setting, simply use the Alert Price menu next to
any item in your Wish List, then click the UPDATE button at the bottom of the
page.
NOTE: You must click the Update button to save your Alert Price settings
before going to a new Wish List page if you have multiple pages. Top
Does the Alert Price feature take into account Micropay Rebates or just straight
list price discounts?
Currently, the Alert Price feature does not consider the effect of Micropay
Rebates on the price of the eBook, only promotions or publisher price changes
that drop the actual out-of-pocket price. The system does take into account
Fictionwise sales and specials that apply either for everyone or just to you
specifically. If you are a Buywise Club member, the system does take into account
your Buywise Club 15% discount because that comes right off the out-of-pocket
price, but it does not take into account the possibility of Buywise "Large
Transaction" rebates or other kinds of rebates, since those do not lower
the out-of-pocket cost directly Top
Does the Fictionwise Wish List allow my friends to purchase items for me or
vice versa?
Currently, we do not support this feature, but we are considering it for a
future upgrade. Top
I have items in my Wish List even though I have never moved any there myself.
How did that happen? When we introduced the Wish List feature, we automatically moved items to
your Wish List if they had been in your Cart for more than 1 month, and if
you had unchecked the Buy box next to those items in your Cart.
We did this because our customers had been using that method (leaving items
un-checked in their Cart) as a sort of pseudo-wishlist feature. But this caused
many members to have gigantic Shopping Carts which were difficult to manage
(there were members with over 1,000 items in their Cart, and the Shopping Cart
is not paged!) To clean up the clutter, we decided to automatically move older
items that were unchecked into members' Wish List, saving them the trouble
of clicking on many items to move them manually. This was a one-time move on
introduction of the Wish List feature, this will not happen to items in your
Cart in the future.
As a side note, the Shopping Cart now has a limit of 200 items. If you attempt
to move more than 200 items to your Shopping Cart, you get a warning message
and the excess items are instead moved into your Wish List. This is necessary
because technical difficulties may result when displaying an overloaded Shopping
Cart. Top
