Fictionwise Releases Hugo Winning Robert A. Heinlein Novel as eBook
Heinlein is considered one of the greatest science fiction authors of all
time. He won four Hugo awards during his career. In 1975, the Science
Fiction Writers of America instituted the Grandmaster Nebula to honor the
lifetime achievements of the greatest living SF writers. Robert A. Heinlein
was the first to be so honored. "It was like George Washington becoming the
first President," said Isaac Asimov, "There was no argument."
Double Star is the story of an unemployed actor hired to impersonate a
politician who has been kidnapped in the middle of an election campaign.
Peace with the Martians is at stake -- failure to pull off the act could
result in interplanetary war. The actor knows nothing of the issues
concerning free interplanetary trade and equal rights for aliens--and cares
even less, but the politico's top aide offers a handsome compensation, and
assurance that the charade will last only until they find the real
politician.
Although Heinlein produced more famous novels (e.g., Stranger in a Strange
Land), Double Star is considered by some critics to be his best work.
With the recent addition of Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein, Fictionwise
now publishes or distributes eBooks by some of the greatest Science Fiction
authors of all time, including: Harlan Ellison, Larry Niven, Robert
Silverberg, Damon Knight, L. Sprague de Camp, Fritz Leiber, Mike Resnick,
Jack Williamson, and many others.
