Fictionwise.com Supports Franklin eBookMan
Dramatically increases number of available contemporary titles for new eBook
device.
February 27, 2001 - Chatham, NJ - Fictionwise.com announced today that its
entire inventory of high-quality, fiction eBooks is now available for the
new Franklin eBookMan device.
Fictionwise (http://www.fictionwise.com) is among the first companies to
release contemporary eBooks by top authors for the eBookMan's proprietary
eBook format. Franklin Electronic Publishing currently has about 100
contemporary titles in this format, and several thousand public domain
titles whose copyrights have expired. This move by Fictionwise adds nearly
500 additional titles by contemporary authors, with 30 to 40 new titles
launched every month. Many of the Fictionwise titles have won or been
nominated for major literary and fan awards.
"At Fictionwise.com, we constantly review trends in the eBook industry, and
we believe that in the coming months the Franklin eBookMan will be a major
market for our titles," commented Stephen Pendergrast, co-publisher at
Fictionwise.com. "It features a larger screen area than most PDAs, enhancing
the reading experience, and also has multimedia capabilities. In addition,
the unit lists at an attractive price-point. We’re proud to be in the
forefront of making titles available for the Franklin eBookMan."
eBookMan owners can register at Fictionwise.com for free, download several
free eBooks, and purchase titles which are stored on their "bookshelf."
Fictionwise eBooks can be read on the eBookMan’s "Franklin Reader" software
application.
Fictionwise.com focuses on selling award-winning and high quality fiction
eBooks by top authors in multiple formats (Adobe Acrobat, Rocket/REB 1100,
Palm Doc, Microsoft Reader, and now the Franklin eBookMan). Fictionwise has
hundreds of inexpensive titles from leading contemporary fiction authors,
including: Harlan Ellison, Robert Silverberg, Nancy Kress, Larry Niven,
Damon Knight, Mike Resnick, Michael Swanwick, James Patrick Kelly, Pamela
Sargent, Kage Baker, Tom Purdom, and Kate Wilhelm, amongst others. In most
cases, Fictionwise.com has the largest short fiction eBook collections available
for its authors, and it is believed the website features the largest eBook
collection of major award-winning and nominated stories on the web.
Fictionwise.com includes many innovative features, such as the ability for
readers to pay either via credit card or a proprietary "micropay" account,
which allows Fictionwise users to avoid paying minimum credit transaction
fees imposed by credit processing agents.
Every week, Fictionwise.com adds additional stories from established
professional authors in the science fiction, fantasy, dark fantasy, mystery,
horror, contemporary, and humor genres.
