Fictionwise Recommenders

This program is meant for people who enjoy reading short stories and novels and writing about them. Recommenders are not compensated monetarily. However, Fictionwise today is one of the leading independent eBook publishers and our website delivers hundreds of thousands of page views a month, so being a Recommender may have some value to you if you are looking to build a writing career. Or you might just enjoy doing it!

Recommendations:

As part of the application, you will need to submit two short recommendations. Here are some hints on what we are looking for in a recommendation.

A Recommender's goal is to help the reader make a buying decision. Our hope is that Fictionwise Recommenders will develop a following and that our members will come to recognize that they like the same type of books that a specific Recommender likes. Our Recommenders will be able to publish lists of their favorite eBooks as well as their favorite authors. As you develop a following, members will come to understand and trust your "taste" in eBooks. Also, you can help our audience better understand certain authors and their styles. For example, some of our authors are not rated highly by the "general population" but they are hugely popular within their "niche." You can help our members understand what type of reader would fit in that niche. This would provide great value to our members and to authors as well. Therefore, in general, we expect that Recommenders will write about eBooks they personally enjoyed, but it would benefit our audience if they also cover eBooks that -- while not their personal favorites -- may appeal to a particular type of reader or fan.

Your writing style, knowledge about authors and genres, and overall writing talent will all play a part in our decision process. Special note: don't put spoilers in your recommendations.

Our members will be able to "rate your recommendations." The criteria they will be told to use is whether your commentary was helpful to them when deciding to purchase an eBook. The result will be that we can then post a list of our highest rated Recommenders. It will also give you feedback that can be used to revise a recommendation (perhaps to make your point clearer).

We're not professional writers here, but take a look at our Staff Picks page to see how we handled writing short recommendations.

Follow the instructions below to apply.

Step One: Join Fictionwise as a regular member (if you are already a member skip this step). Go here to join.

Step Two: Read and accept the terms for being a "Fictionwise Recommender."

Step Three: Fill out the Recommender Application. Don't take this step until you have written two recommendations between 75 and 200 words. Also include a bio about yourself.

We will then get back to you in the near future. Thank you.
