Chapter One

The Sixth Known Dimension

Earth, 2330

"Natalie, catch!" Warren Samuels yelled, throwing the handcrafted solid walnut Celtic Trinity Knot Box to her. Natalie Martin caught it and held it against her chest. In Celtic Lore it represented eternal love. She glanced down at the emeralds gleaming out at her that were placed into the metal work.

"Activate the dimensional transporter!" she screamed.

Thunder rumbled, and lightening struck the building next to her. Her thoughts ran in a wild untamed pattern. They had a mission to accomplish...and things didn't look good for them. The Celtic Trinity Knot Box was very important to their government. No matter what happened, they had to get it back to their Home Dimension.

Warren had been shot, and she didn't believe that it was a flesh wound, even though he kept insisting it was. They slowed down and looked at their transportation devices. She fought the urge to cough or gag...this dimension just reeked of weird and repugnant smells. The pungent scent of greasy fast food joints, cars that emitted gasoline exhaust and worse--the alley they'd run down smelt of garbage and other even more disgusting waste. Her lungs felt heavy from the thick smoke that billowed from the plant refineries in the distance. Her eyes watered. This dimension was so filled with pollutants that she could barely believe the city they were in bordered the Atlantic Ocean. It was in the same place that their version of New York would have been...except in this dangerous dimension it was called Liberty City.

Opening a door to this dimension was done as a last resort. It was not a desirable destination and now she knew why. Nonetheless, they traveled here because it harbored the most sought after ancient relic that they'd ever hunted. She just hoped that the Trinity Box was worth the hell they'd gone through to get it. She hoped it was worth their lives.

"I can't seem to get the address to calibrate! I think the electrical storm is interrupting the signal!" Warren shouted over the wind.

Their eyes locked. His eyes had a wild glint to them...and shadowed beneath the wildness was pure desperation.
