Introduction This volume was generated by a request from The United Church of Canada for a book of short devotionals for use in church groups. These have been designed for persons who are asked, on short notice, to lead in a period of worship. This book can be taken from the shelf and used with a minimum of preparation on the part of the leader. Here, then, are fifty-six services of worship, one for each week of the year and four for special occasions. They follow the annual cycle of group activity. They are prepared having in mind all ages and both sexes. Small group meetings through the week were what I had in mind, but any worshipping group might find them helpful. A seniors' residence without regular professional leadership in worship could be a case in point. Ministers may find them a worship resource. Although they are prepared with groups in mind, they can easily be adapted to personal devotion. Copyright © 1992 by Abingdon Press
